If you're staying in the hotel, it's a great convenient place to get breakfast/brunch. However, if you have time you might as well walk a block and check out Snow City Cafe for some better brunch.
Waitress here was incompetent, but otherwise food was good. -

3.5-stars. We've enjoyed the food and service on several occasions (Tuscan Benedict; reindeer sausage; lox; paleo breakfast) -- but found the quality and experience superior in February (compared to July -- high tourist season: we had to wait in line for 20 minutes). Nonetheless, a nice component of the Hotel Captain Cook room rate ($20 daily credit on some reservations).

I decided to eat breakfast at The Cafe this morning. I had the Denver omelet, hash browns and toast. This meal was the most generic food I've had in a long time. The omelet was lightly filled with small pre cubed ham and peppers and had that oily generic Sysco flavor. Eggs appeared to be mass produced product that comes in a container ready to pour. The hash browns tasted like cardboard soaked in Sysco oil spray. Most $14 meals I purchase comes with 2 pieces of toast. This meal only had 1 but it was great Rye bread that was the highlight.
Service was excellent. To bad they have to serve such horrible food.
The Capt Cook hotel is a nice place. They should do more to make sure their restaurants are providing quality food.
